Biography

 

Leslie Spurlock has been involved in photography for 15 years. She began her career as a travel photographer, photographing such countries as Malaysia, Bhutan, Nepal and many more. Her images were sold for corporate art collections to Compaq, Kelsey-Siebold, Hermann Hospital and a variety of other corporations, brochures, and magazines. Despite her love for photography, she decided to take some time off to raise three beautiful children. As her children began school, she decided to continue with her photography, but this time in the path where her passion lies, photojournalism.

Embarking on a new career in photojournalistic photography, Leslie decided to go to Haiti. It is here where she really learned how to capture emotion and compassion. Leslie has since worked in the photojournalism field for 3 years, photographing atrocities, disasters, and the compassion of people helping people. She has covered such events as the uprising in Haiti, the flood in Haiti that devastated the country, the violence that erupted, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Cindy Sheehan, and the rebuilding of the South. Her images have appeared internationally in publications such as Time Magazine, American Photo, Popular Photography, NEED Magazine, NACLA, CNN.com, Ft. Worth Star Telegram, the Arizona Republic and a wide variety of other publications, books, nonprofit organizations and brochures.

While she still has a great love for this type of photography, she enjoys showing the joy and love that she experiences in wedding photography. She believes it is important to tell the story of a wedding, which is where her skills as an accomplished photojournalist have greatly helped her. She believes that this is a once in a lifetime event, and she strives to capture images that will last a lifetime in your memories.
