We decided to have a little fun this weekend and try our hands at fashion. After settling on a head piece theme, we set out to create our own. We might have looked at a few images on Pinterest to get ideas (OK, Todd did…he says thanks to everyone he stole inspiration from). Then, we sent out a call on Facebook for volunteers to come play with us. I shot Brooklyn’s senior portraits, so when she said she would work with us, we were thrilled. She is a beautiful young woman and so easy to photograph. Kristal White joined us, bringing her wonderful makeup talents. We couldn’t have pulled this off without her. We have to thank Robert Long for helping out with everything. It was really, really hot, and he never complained. And thanks to Brooklyn Billner for her obvious talents and her exceptional patience, and for enduring the heat with us. Once we had everyone lined up, the rest of us pitched in and created the head pieces. Thanks to my daughter, Olivia Spurlock, for creating Phoenix Rising and Castle in the Clouds, my boys Xander and Nicholas for their help with mine, and Todd Stricker for his two pieces. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend of creating, photographing and just having fun in general.
