Christina and Daniel’s wedding was held at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in New Mexico. The view of the mountains behind them was spectacular! The ring bearer, carrying a sign down the aisle warning the groom that it was his last chance to run, was adorable. He stayed, of course, but he can never say Christina didn’t give him one last chance to back out 🙂 Everything from ceremony to reception was beautiful, but we had the most fun at the Day After session. Plans had been made for a shoot in the snow, and as weather is likely to do, it didn’t cooperate, no snow. White sands is just a short drive away, or so we thought, so early the next morning we set out. All I’m going to say about the first part of the drive is blocked gates, warning signs, razor wire, potentially live missiles and bunkers. You will have to ask Daniel how we got there 🙂 After a quick turn around, and a “short” drive in the right direction, we arrived at the entrance only to find that they had changed the park hours, and they didn’t open till 9. Todd was ready for a nap, and asked the kind gentleman that informed us of the time change for a wake up call. No wake up call, but he did get a foam puzzle for kids ages 3 – 5 to keep him occupied. (It worked) Once in, we made our way toward the back and some sand dunes that hadn’t been hiked over. All set, we headed out. The one thing we failed to take into account was how hard it can be to get up a sand dune when not carrying anything, let alone camera gear and a wedding dress. We made it about 1/3 of the way up the dune before I fell down holding the camera up over my head and the bride face planted right into her wedding dress! 5 minutes later, when we finished laughing and made it to the top, it was absolutely beautiful. We captured some amazing images of a beautiful bride and groom. All was well with the world, until the groom felt his finger and realized that his new wedding ring was gone. A quick hike back to the first dune, a little frost bite from running our hands through the freezing sand, and Daniel actually found it 🙂 Christina and Daniel, thank you for allowing us to take part in your wedding day. We will never forget you guys!
